At WISSLER Salou we do more than just serving tasty burgers and establishing a welcoming ambiance. We want to give you the best experience in Salou beyond the walls of our restaurant. Let Ian, our restaurant manager, be your companion as you explore all the things Salou offers within and around city.
Basketball
One of my favourite things to do is to play basketball. Right beside the beach is really cool place to play basketball called Pista pública de Bàsquet. I think it’s the best place to play because everybody is welcome, and you just show up. And then it has this Miami kind of vibe which also makes it really Insta worthy. It’s definitely a good option to meet new people and make friends. If you get hungry after a good match, WISSLER Salou is only a 15 minutes’ walk from the court.
Trip to Cambrils
So, if you want to take a day off from your Salou experience, I highly recommend taking a trip to Cambrils. It’s just a 19 minutes’ drive or if you are up for a walk, it will take about 1,5 hours. In Cambrils, you will find lots of seafood restaurants, charming beaches, and a cozy atmosphere, it’s totally worth the visit.
I once lived in Cambrils and one thing I absolutely love about this town is this authentic Spanish charm that you will notice from the moment you arrive. The marina is a perfect spot to walk around, feel the coastal vibes, and maybe have a nice dish of fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants.
One of the most popular beaches in Cambrils is Playa del Regueral, it is like the main beach because it’s so close to the center of Cambrils. Because of that, there is lots of tourists and families. It’s a really beautiful beach with clear water, golden sand and of course palm trees. If you prefer a more quiet beach, you should go to Playa del Cavet, which is smaller but more quiet. This is the perfect beach for snorkelling or a picnic in the golden sand.
Another thing you should do is exploring the historic Old Town. Walk around the narrow streets, historic architecture, beautiful buildings and local shops give you a taste of the history and culture of the town. And don’t forget to try some of the local specialties, the food in Cambrils is so good.
Naioh Café
Are you a breakfast-lover like me, then you should definitely go to Naioh Café. They have the best brunch in town and the place gives you the vibe of being at an exotic island far away. You can get everything from bread with salmon and eggs to different kinds of pancakes. It’s a café with healthy food and Asian pastry. Also, they serve specialty coffee and tea like a spirulina blue latte and matcha. My favourite thing to order is a smoothie bowl, they are so good. And if you have at pet, don’t worry it’s a pet friendly café. You will find this nice café in Placa del Carreilet 5, and they are open from 10-20:30.
Port Aventura
So, if you’re up for a day full of fun and action, I’ve got the perfect recommendation for you – go to Port Aventura. It’s the best way to spend a day with friends or family!
Port Aventura is this huge amusement park located just a short ride away from WISSLER, and it’s a must-visit for anyone who liked an adrenaline rush. I recently spent a day there, and it was like stepping into a whole world of fun. The roller coasters are pretty cool, I think.
But it’s not just about the rides the park has different themed areas that will make you feel like you are in different parts of the world. You can stroll through the charming streets of the Mediterranean, feel the Wild West vibe, or even explore the mysteries of China. It’s like a global adventure all in one place!
Another thing is Ferrari Land. If you’ve got a need for speed, this is the place to be. The Red Force roller coaster is a crazy, and it’ll satisfy any racing enthusiast’s craving for speed.
If you get hungry during the day, don’t worry, Port Aventura has got you covered. There are plenty of dining options to fuel up and keep the energy high.
So, if you’re ready for a day of non-stop fun, Port Aventura is the spot.
Chaplin
In Salou there is this funny bar called Chaplin’s which is a bar full of entertainment. A nice thing about this bar is that you can bring the whole family, because early in the evening, they do Disney shows for kids like Mickey Mouse and Minions with music and dancing. Then when it gets later in the evening, they will do other music and dancing shows like Bohemian Rapsody and Adele for adults. They serve lots of colourful and tasty cocktails that you can enjoy in this cool atmosphere. And a big plus, it’s not an expensive thing to do to have fun.
Trip to Tarragona
On my days off from WISSLER, I love to go on day trip to Tarragona. It’s not far away from WISSLER, only 12 minutes with the train and then you are there. If you take the train you have to take it from Salou Port Aventura, and it costs 3-5 euros. You can also take the bus right next to the beach. The bus journey takes around 25 minutes and costs 1-3 euro.
Exploring the charming old town, Part Alta, is a must, with its small and beautiful streets full of specialty stores offering everything from delicious local food to handmade jewellery. In Part Alta, you will find The Gothic Cathedral Basilica Metropolitan and Primate of Tarragona of Santa Tecla, situated on the highest part of the hill. Taking a break in Part Alta at one of the small cafes, sipping coffee, and enjoying in the sun is a perfect way to relax. Tarragona has many Roman ruins, and my personal favourite is the amphitheatre by the sea.
Another thing I like do when I am in Tarragona is walking along the Ramble which has lots of stores, and continuing towards the sea offers a beautiful view over the water, making it the best viewpoint in town. For rainy days, El Corte Inglés and Parc Central provide shopping options, with El Corte Inglés as a department store with many different brands, and Parc Central boasting four floors of stores.
Check out our blog post, “What to do in La Pineda on a rainy day,” for more rainy-day activity ideas.
If shopping isn’t your priority, Tarragona also has beautiful beaches like Playa del Miracle or the larger Platja Arrabassada which has a beach bar where they make good cocktails that you can enjoy in the sun.
Now, let’s talk about Tarragona’s restaurants. My top pick is Sushiko, which I think make the best sushi in Tarragona. I always choose all you can eat, and it costs between 16 to 23 euros depending on the day of the week. They offer so many different kinds of sushi and if you don’t want to eat at the restaurant you can have it to go.
For those with a sweet tooth, Tarragona offers delicious ice cream stores with homemade treats, perfect for enjoying during a stroll around the city. End your day with a tasty cocktail or a beer at Placa de la Font, a lively place full of people and a fantastic atmosphere. You’ll discover a variety of bars and restaurants.
